Hey fam. Thanks for tuning in. I'm Niecie Jones.
Bethany:And I'm Bethany Cherry.
Niecie:And we're both practitioners in the wellness space who are here to chat with you about taking that break you keep saying you're going to give yourself, but you don't. At least not consistently. We just wanna chat with you about it. We're not your mama, your auntie. We're your therapist, we're your girls, and we have some information you may wanna think about moving forward.
Bethany:Introducing Radical Restoration, a podcast centering black millennial women in our search for rest. Radical restoration provides spaces that give opportunities for sharing, release and learning for black women. We offer constructive conversations about the challenge of a daily rest practice because seriously, it is a struggle and you may be wondering. What do these chicks know about radical rest and why should I listen to them?
Niecie:So, I am technically Dr. Niecie Jones. I'm a licensed marriage and family therapist, and I do have a PhD in psychotherapy. I have a lot of clinical and research expertise in Black American mental health in particular, though I have worked, um, and continued to work with black folks across the diaspora, including, uh, many African countries. Um, In addition to my therapy practice, I'm also, I play a few other roles, so I'm a creativity coach and I focus on the intersection of, um, using intuition, meaning making and mental health. I'm also a diversity, equity and inclusion consultant that works primarily in the tech space. And one of my major foci is psychological safety, which I would love to get into on the podcast. It's a very important topic for people. No matter how or where you work in life. And then on the more spiritual side, I do read Taro and Oracle cards professionally, which for me and many others, has proven to be a really helpful tool in being able to find rest and restoration. So in lots of ways, I've used my work, um, to help black women find and operate in their flow.
Bethany:Love that, especially that word flow. So technically I am coach Bethany and I'm a health and wellness coach, uh, nationally certified, and I'm currently pursuing my master's degree in health and wellness coaching. I am super passionate about liberation and social justice. And I love supporting black women to find pathways to wellbeing and to help them flourish As an educator, I'm passionate about diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as mindfulness in schools. I'm also a writer and I write poetry on the side. A lot of my work, overall centers, slow living rest and the science of flourishing as guidance toward greater wellbeing. I really believe that all of us. Deserve and can find authentic pathways toward whole wellness and whole centered living. So through this podcast, my hope is to share my knowledge and experiences with you, and hopefully we can bring out some guests. Who can inspire and educate us in living a more fulfilled and restful life.
Niecie:Bethany and I have worked together in various capacities over the years to provide healing spaces for black women. Specifically. We have run virtual and physical healing spaces for black women addressing institutional violence, the pandemic and everything in between. We have learned so much from the women we've worked with and we have found some tools and practices that may work for you moving forward.
Bethany:We hope that through this podcast you will be heard, you will be seen. You will feel valued and equipped with the proper resources to reclaim work-life, fit, and prioritize your restoration practices. We are two imperfect people who work in the wellness space, experimenting with different rest practices and philosophies. We are on the journey with you. So let's walk it together in each episode. We need each other.
Niecie:Yes, we do.
